PPM completes CIP Lining project for KeySpan Energy
Posted: February 13, 2004

PPM has sucessfully rehabilitated of over 4,000 feet of 20-inch cast iron natural gas pipeline for KeySpan Energy Delivery. The project ran from early November through the end of December 2003 in Brooklyn, NY.

The rehabilitation involved the installation of the Starline 2000 Cured-In-Place (CIP) lining technology. The three phases for the process
include CCTV inspection, abrasive-blast cleaning and the actual liner inversion

. Of the fifteen pipe sections rehabilitated, the longest section was over 550 feet with just two small excavation pits (an entry and an exit ). Additionally, five offsets were lined in one section near a major expressway.

Based on the results of this project, KeySpan has contracted PPM to rehabilitate an additional 2,500 feet of 20-inch pipeline as is actively pursuing other project locations. The Starline 2000 process is the only CIP lining trenchless technology for the rehabilitation of natural gas pipelines available today.
